SELECTION CRITERIA

The admission policy
The Albanian School of Politics aims to be of the most elite level. In accordance with this aim, the candidates that have reached high results in their career up to date and have a high level of education in the fields related to the program will be admitted to the school.

The admission of candidates is performed through a preliminary competition of their document files and through an interview  and test for the selected persons.

The selection of candidates is based on the principles of equality, impartiality and merits which implies the entire evaluation of candidate indicators that include academic achievements, compliance of his/her interests with the aims of the program, level of command of the English language and the level of recommendation.
 
The profile of participants may be new and young members of parliament, officials of central and local institutions, elected individuals of city councils, communes, representatives from the judiciary, from the business, media and non-profit organizations. The age of the participants shall be until 40. The school aims to provide a gender balance of participants and an equal representation of ethnic and religious minorities, if they meet the other requirements.The candidates shall be examined and interviewed by the members of the APS Board and lecturers and other contributors in the implementation of the programme. In case a candidate renounces from his/her right to attend the course before its beginning, his/her place is taken from the candidates who is ranked after him/her in the waiting list.

Admission criteria

The candidates who demand to attend the Program “Albanian School of Political Studies” shall comply with the following criteria:

  • Priority will be given to candidates who have a university diploma issued by a university in or out of the country.
  • He/she masters the English and/or French language. The command of these languages in a good level is required, because some of the courses will be held in these languages. The command of another western foreign language constitutes an advantage.
  • The candidate expresses clearly the motive of participation in the Program, the political interests, if any, and the interests for career development.
  • The age of the candidate shall be until 40.
  • The candidate shall be preferably in an active public position.
  • He/she shall be recommended by two individuals who know the academic, professional, research and personal skills of the candidate.
Admission documentation:
 
  - The completed application form.
  - Photocopy of the diploma.
  - Two letters of recommendations, each sealed in an envelope and signed by the referee.
  - 1 photo in passport format.

    Admission procedures
    a. Admission of documentation

    The documents required for competition shall be admitted within the deadline foreseen in the call for applications.
    All documents must be submitted to the Academy of Political Studies office in Tirana within the determined deadline.

    b. Procedures for the selection of candidates and the communication of the decision

    First phase: Evaluation of application forms for candidates
    The Members of the “Academy of Political Studies” Board examine the applications of candidates. The successful candidates shall be the ones who have the highest indicators according to the admission criteria. Only the selected candidates for the interview will be notified.

    Second phase: Interviewing of candidates
    The candidates, selected as suitable from the Board, undergo an interview with the members of this board and a written test. The interview shall be in the Albanian language, English and/or French. The Commission examines the candidates on the basis of the established criteria of this phase.

    Third phase:  Selection of winning candidates
    Based on the results of the two evaluations, the Board selects the winning candidates. The candidates, who have gained the highest number of points, following in descending order until the number foreseen for the participants is completed, shall be declared as winners.

    Fourth phase:  Communication of the decision
    In this phase, the school informs through e-mail each candidate on his/her admission or non-admission in the program.
